Do you think there is any better way of celebrating your love than a boat wedding in Marmaris? Sounds dreamy and straight out of a movie? Right! So, recently, I had the pleasure of documenting a boat wedding for a lovely couple – Sibel & Fabi. I was so excited when they contacted me to be their boho wedding photographer!
When we discussed how they got the idea of getting married on the boat, Sibel explained to me the meaningful connection she has with this place. She was born in Marmaris and grew up in Turunc until she was 6 – her dad is from Turkey, and her mother is German, so she shares a deep bond with both places. The reason why she chose the boat wedding has a special connection to her past. Her parents had a surf school, and she had many endless memories. Also, Fabi proposed to her on a boat in Vietnam. Therefore, she felt she was drawn to the ocean and wished to include it in her big day.
The couple married in Turunc, a holiday resort in Marmaris, Turkey. It is located on the mediterranean sea and surrounded by the Taurus mountains.
As a boho wedding photographer, I have photographed parts of weddings involving boats. But documenting this entire wedding as a destination wedding photographer on a boat was such a fun change from what I typically get to capture!
Of course, as a Turkey wedding photographer, I have covered many destination weddings, but this one took my breath away. I started with getting ready shots of Fabi & Sibel in their separate suites. Sibel got ready with 5 of her bridesmaids – her best friends since school. She looked no less than Goddess in her white bohemian wedding dress. After this, we moved towards the mountain for their first look. It was a perfect place to see Turunc at its best. Once we completed the first look, everyone boarded the boat and enjoyed the scenic views. It was an intimate affair with only 20 guests present.
Then, everyone gathered on the open-air deck for the ceremony. As the couple exchanged vows, the guests showered their blessings and love on the newlyweds. After the ceremony, I took some time off with the couple for intimate pictures. Their portraits with the ocean in the backdrop looked romantic and out of this world!
The couple then proceeded to their reception on the boat, followed by the cake-cutting, dancing and toasts by family and friends.
I would like to give the most heartfelt thanks to Sibel and Fabi for including me in their boho wedding, and I wish them all the happiness in the world. I am so glad they had a fabulous idea to host their super fun barefoot wedding aboard the boat and chose me as their boho wedding photographer.
